Study of semi - inclusive production of η ′ mesons in B decays

We report a measurement of the rate for B → ηXs transitions where the η meson has center-ofmass momentum in the range 2.0 to 2.7GeV/c andXs represents a system comprising a kaon and up to four pions. Our study is based on 22.2 million BB pairs collected at the Υ (4S) with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. We find B(B → ηXs) = (6.8 −1.7(stat) ± 1.0(syst) −0.5(bkg)) × 10−4 assuming that the signal is due to b → sg transitions.
